WEBSTA DIARIES

Seven Smartphone Photography Tips & Tricks

See how you can create some awesome shots without having to pay for accessories!

WEEKEND WEBSTAPICK #14
“I chose this beautiful shot from @gijanice because I love the way she makes us feel the solitude in this girl. The editing for the soft tones is perfect for this awesome shot. It tells a great story even without reading the caption; you can imagine it. The caption, which is a Julio Cortazar quote, is absolutely fantastic: “I think we all have a little bit of that beautiful madness that keeps us walking [moving forward] when everything around us is so insanely sane.”” - @citomegalovirus on why he chose @gijanice's photo.
On a weekend, we give past Webstapick winners a chance to take on the role of Guest Pickers (or guest judges).
This weekend’s Guest Picker is Coral (@citomegalovirus), from Tenerife, Canary Islands, Spain.
More About Our Guest Picker

1. What/who inspires you?
Of course, my two little daughters and my husband, @picoteide on Instagram. I’m also inspired by the place where I live - it’s a paradise: the Canary islands. We have some spectacular beaches, forests and we have the volcano Teide. At 7,500 m (24,600 ft) from its base on the ocean floor, it is the third highest volcano on a volcanic ocean island in the world. So I am surrounded by beauty! But travelling, or exploring new areas, also inspires me.

2. What kind of photos/videos do you like to take?
I use Instagram as a diary. I shoot everything around if it’s beautiful or interesting. I usually shoot happy moments! Thanks to this app I can dream about umbrellas, beach silhouettes, amazing landscapes, sunrises, sunsets…When I feel blue, just taking a look at this gallery makes me happy!
3. Favorite photo or video editing apps
Photos: I usually use Procamera to take the shots, and to edit them: Snapseed, Filterstorm and sometimes Vscocam.
Videos: my favorite editing apps are Imovie and Videon. For timelapses I use Lapse It.
4. Favorite Instagramers
Hmmm…I have a lot of them! (That’s gotta be one of the hardest questions to ask an IGer!! ) Each of them has an awesome view of the world.
5. Are you part of any photo community on Instagram?
I’m a coordinator of @CanariasViva, along with my friends @miguellapalma and @obc. Also, I’m a member of @All_Shots.

WEEKEND WEBSTAPICK #13
“I enjoy seeing photos that communicate even the most mundane subjects and given a fresh twist and new perspective, something that can put a smile on our face and brighten up our day. Just one look and you’ll understand why I have chosen this as my Webstapick winner. It stands out from the rest of the crowd; unique and inspiring, capturing something as ordinary as a tree-lined path and giving it that fresh twist. Lurza has a keen eye for these infrared shots, and this shot is just the icing on the cake.” - @seoulite121 on why he chose @llurza's photo.
On a weekend, we give past Webstapick winners a chance to take on the role of Guest Pickers (or guest judges).
This weekend’s Guest Picker is Jovi (@seoulite121) living in Seoul, South Korea.
More About Our Guest Picker

1. What/who inspires you?
I find inspiration in many places… seeing other people’s photos and creativity really gets my imagination working. I find inspiration in the everyday; the grind, the humdrum of everyday life, I find inspiration in my travels. And what I find most wonderful about Instagram is that I can pass on that inspiration; if I can capture something that inspires me and share it, I may also have the opportunity to inspire others who see my photos as well.

2. What kind of photos/videos do you like to take?
I am fascinated by architecture and its geometric lines, symmetry, curves, and perspective and enjoy the challenge of capturing them.
3. Favorite photo or video editing apps
My primary photo editor is Snapseed… simple and intuitive. I can’t imagine editing with anything else! I often use this in combination with other editing tools such as PicFX, and Stackables for their filters.
4. Favorite Instagramers
It’s hard for me to pick just one Instagramer - it’s like picking a favorite flavor in an ice cream parlor; they’re all delicious!
5. Are you part of any photo community on Instagram?
I am an active member of several photo communities, namely @arkiromantix @art_chitecture_ @diagonal_symmetry @jj_juststructure @ic_architecture @jj_geometry @lookingup_architecture and @artnetinstagram.
