WEBSTA DIARIES

WEEKEND WEBSTAPICK #09
"This picture I picked caught my eye immediately because of its originality as well as for its freshness and colors. It’s that kind of image we all could have tried to shoot during our vacations, but just a few of us would accomplish that sort of "teleport" feeling that this picture shows. In addition, the way the  fishes’ colors merge with the light passing through the water is so unique. A different image, an outstanding shot."  - @m4kr4b3us on why he chose @cubatefa's photo.
On a weekend, we give past Webstapick winners a chance to take on the role of Guest Pickers (or guest judges).
This weekend’s Guest Picker is David (@m4kr4b3us).
David’s from Barcelona and works as a journalist.
More About Our Guest Picker

1. What/who inspires you?
To be honest I always go with the flow of the place or the moment I’m living, and I could say that I don’t have a defined style. However, I must admit that you can see how my deep devotion for movies and cinematic scenes influences the way I make my compositions or even when editing my pictures.

2. What kind of photos/videos do you like to take?
My style is the ‘not style’ style. I just take pictures of all those things that catch my eye. It can be a landscape, a perfect stranger, an abandoned location… Anyway, I always try to integrate a subject in my images in order to enhance that subjectivity in the spectator, making themselves feel part of the scene.
3. Favorite photo or video editing apps
I’m a VSCOcam lover, though lately I enjoy playing with apps like Mextures. Some other must-have apps for me are Filterstorm, Frontview or LensFlare.
4. Favorite Instagrammers
If I have to say one name, that’s @instafraner without any doubt. He’s a constant source of inspiration in my work because of his creativity and freshness. Another reference for me is @joshsoskin. His work is just awesome.

5. Are you part of any photo community on Instagram?
I’m the founder of @bnw_wonderful, though lack of time has ended leaving my feed kind of inactive. Apart from that I don’t belong to any other IG community.

@MARSDER

Ahh, the daily grind. You’d think it’s hard to find inspiration in the office, but a few people like this Instagram user sees humor in it every day (with the help of his tiny friends of course). To get some of the messages, you might have to read the caption.

WEEKEND WEBSTAPICK #07
"I love all the silhouettes and the individual stories they tell. From the girl with crossed arms stood seemingly belligerent and alone top centre, to the parent and child in the bottom left. It looks as though one of them is checking their phone in the bottom right. The texture of the rink is like the lunar surface, the figures fade off into an icy mist. It’s just great."  - @figment_hf on why he chose @la_skippo's photo.
On a weekend, we give past Webstapick winners a chance to take on the role of Guest Pickers (or guest judges).
This weekend’s Guest Picker is Ben (@figment_hf).
Ben’s from England and he likes to take photos. He just started working on his first short film.
More About Our Guest Picker

1. What/who inspires you?
I find music to be really visually inspiring, I’ve used tracks and sounds from artists like Boards of Canada in a few of my Instagram videos, I think they fit well with my aesthetics. I’m also a huge cinema fan, from Ridley Scott to Andrei Tarkovsky. But on a daily basis I’m inspired by the photographers and photo editors that I discover and follow on Instagram.
2. What kind of photos/videos do you like to take?
I suppose they are somewhere between dreams, memories and a document. I like to obscure certain elements, usually towards the periphery and draw your attention to others, like how in a dream or a memory you can’t always focus on certain things.

3. Favorite photo or video editing apps
Yeah haha, it’s Mextures, VSCO cam and Snapseed like everyone else I’m afraid. I’ve recently discovered an app called SKRWT, which is great for any composition perfectionists with a symmetry addiction.
4. Favorite Instagrammers
I have many! @leahminium is a huge influence, as are photographers like @oliviermorisse and the always creative @c_grizz. There is @twistdee; without her and people like her Instagram wouldn’t be the same. And of course @omerika who I’ve collaborated with a number of times. She always adds a 4th fantastical and surreal dimension to my photos. Other than that, more or less everyone I follow.
